Did you know that there are currently 24,984 active licensed Professional Engineers in the State of Washington? I really have no idea if that is high or low, because I don't have any other states to compare it to, nor do I know how many residents Washington has. However, the real crazy part to me is... there are only 2,250 licensed women engineers. That is (hold on let find my calculator...) only 9%. NINE PERCENT. For all the leaps and bounds women have made in the workplace, less than 10% of the professional engineering force is made up of women... Kind of crazy, eh? I know there are a hundred different reasons for this, which I won't get into, but I just thought this was an interesting snippet when I read through my "Washington Board Journal" tonight. We are certainly a small population!

This is very interesting! I don't know if I like knowing I'm only part of the 9%. It makes it so much more lonely. Especially since I hardly see you these days (not a guilt trip, simply a statement of fact.) Anyway. Thanks for the interesting info. From one intellectual badass to another. Love and Hugs, Charlotte
I know -- it is sort of lonely in the workplace for sure. Plus it comes with added guilt -- I must stay working! I must not quit or else this number will drop! I am working for all the women who went before me! When in reality I just want to raise babies :)
Amen sister. Amen.
