we are a mess

The purpose of this post is to dispell any myths that we in any way shape or form have it all "together". Case in point. Below I have posted a picture of our home... It doesn't always look like this... in fact I often try to clean it. Actually if I don't clean daily it becomes like this. Because it is such a small space. And I have had trouble wanting to clean today. I would rather pay bills than clean. That's how tired of cleaning I am! But regardless, we are a bit of a mess :) If you can find Olaf in the mess, note that he is RIGHT next to both the couch and the table/desk/catch-all... within perfect range to get his slimy biscuit-encrusted fingers all over, even when strapped into his chair. Yes we are a mess. But we are a happy mess. Daddy is coming home tonight (hopefully), we are making progress on the house, and I can't help but smile at my son. Now I better clean off that gummy face full of wheat biscuits before I let him drink his lunchtime milk!

something new i learned today

today i learned
that the fedex van in plain is actually a four wheel drive F250.
for some reason this makes me laugh.
i guess you do what you have to do!
and hopefully soon this fedex truck will bring me my study materials for the PE exam which I am taking in april... ugh. but maybe if i have the books i will actually spend the time studying.
i would rather the fedex truck was bringing me nice items from patagonia.com... or maybe jcrew... but alas. you can't always get what you want.
it's almost saturday.... woohoo!

first pics of the remodel

These pictures are about a week old... but fun to see the start of progress! As soon as I can get pictures off Jake's and Matt's cameras I will post more of the inside. I threw in a picture of my favorite men as well :)

Steve directs the unloading of the lumber.
Jake lays down the new floor upstairs.

Back of the house. Those stairs used to be inside.

Front of the house and upstairs bedroom windows.

Classic Saugen men. Funny faces and lots of laughing :)

That will have to do until I have more time!

i know, i know...

it has been awhile i know.
you are probably all wanting to see what new adventures olaf is up to.
and perhaps what steve and i are up to as well...?

our good friends jake, levi, and matt are here helping us frame our house!
it is incredible. every day i come home and something new is completed.
today i came home to the east wall framed in (facing river road). it looked
exactly how i had pictured it in my head. nice work boys! i will start posting
pictures of all of that tomorrow. i don't have to work tomorrow in wenatchee
which is very nice. though i will probably have to go buy groceries somewhere.
feeding 4 grown men is a lot of food! luckily mom and dad are feeding
us all at their house tomorrow. and letting us shower. yay!

i got to eat sushi tonight with my friends from wenatchee - charlotte, emma,
and mary ann. i never get to see them. but now that olaf has childcare
in wenatchee, i can stay in town which is wonderful! the sushi was SO SO SO
good. spicy tuna is my favorite. the salmon sashimi was good too. and the
yellow fin rolls. and the salmon rolls. but spicy tuna was the best. i was too afraid to try the
hot wenatchee rolls... they had a little too much going on for me. i should have
taken a picture of them so you could understand what i mean.

such a fun evening!
i am looking forward to posting more tomorrow.
until then...

scootapotamus

Olaf is learning how to scoot backwards on his tummy. It is really quite cute except for when he realizes he is actually going away from the things he is trying to reach... and he gets a little whiny. But still very cool that he is moving a bit! I am now watching him scoot into the refrigerator.

Chelan keeps trying to take over his blankets on the floor the minute he moves off of them. Nothing like a wet dog to make a baby blanket smell great :)

Happy 2009!
