Signs of pregnancy

When I am super busy and just forget that I am pregnant (which happens now the sickness is past), I often find the small reminders in life which don't let me forget that I have a little babe in my tum-tum.  Here are two from today.

Reminder #1 -- I cry at commercials.  Anything even slightly sappy.  Or stories on the news.  Or a dog on the side of the road.  Seriuosly, where is me emotional self control?  Pretty much all those Olympics commercials tonight have gotten me teary.

Reminder #2 -- I can't see my trouser buttons and belt to put them all together after using the restroom.   ANNOYING.  If only Carhartt had a maternity line...

bonFIRE 2010

Every year we have a bonfire at our house.  This years was... shall we say... HUGE?  Combining our construction project, brother Dave's projects, and 2 friend's home improvement projects, that was a lot of 2x4 scraps.  And then there were all the trees that were limbed and/or cut down.  Seriously.  Huge.  Fire.

And this year, for the first time ever, the fire department got toned out for it!  Steve had actually called them ahead of time to let them know we'd be burning, but of course they still had to come out and confirm that it was a bonfire (NOT a structure fire as it had been reported), and that it was not going to burn down the neighborhood.  I took photographs which didn't turn out well, but still kind of show the flashing lights (See below).  Had to show that they were actually here you know.   Of course we didn't get the engine, just the command truck.  The nice thing was, we had forwarning since Steve had his pager on.  Another nice thing was that they arrived in about 5 minutes.  Not bad for a rural fire department!  I admit, I was slightly apprehensive/embarrassed at first until the firemen showed up and stayed and chatted for awhile and were laughing and talking away, enjoying the burn.  There were random cars that would stop on the road and just stare for like 5 minutes.  What can you do - they may have just been jealous to not get invited :)  Probably the biggest excitement Plain has seen in awhile.  No seriously.

Flashing lights on the command rig, oh yeah :)  Bonfire to the back left.

Was a good time had by all.  Being preggo I couldn't enjoy the keg of libations (aka Vitamin R, aka Rainier Beer) but I did enjoy talking to my friends and enjoying their company.  Stayed up WAY too late (like 11:30, whoa!).  Steve was up much later making sure that it burned alright with no flare ups.  And it did just fine.  He was back out there today piling the remnants into a smaller fire where it will likely smolder for the rest of the week.

Anyway.  Fun times.

Update 2-19-10.

Had another doctors appointment today and all is still well in baby-land.  Heartbeat is a strong 150bpm.  Woohoo!

Olaf likes to add "dude" to the end of everything.  "Hey dude"  "Bungabunga dude" "Peace out, dude" "Okay dude?".  He is also fond of the random animal noises.  Every now and then from the back of the car, out of nowhere, I hear him say to himself "neeiggggh  neigggghh horsie, okay?  moooo.  okay?  neeiigghh, okay?"  His stories have a lot of repeats, but are pretty cute.

My work is all packed up...  It was a LONG WEEK.  I am headed to Othello on Monday for 5 weeks of construction inspection.  Oh joy.  Should be interesting!  Now I just need to go grocery shopping and meal planning so that my men don't starve while I am away.  Or at least so they don't eat macaroni, chicken nuggets, and pizza for 5 weeks straight.

Tomorrow is bonfire night at the Saugens.  Let's hope we don't burn down anything extra like trees or the woodshed or the pole barn!  Good thing Steve is a volunteer fireman :)  Right?

Happy Friday friends.

hey guess what?

I finally figured out why my computer was being S  O  O       S   L   O   O   O   O   W    in uploading pictures to the blog on Saturday.  It’s because I had iTunes running at the same time, which apparently takes all the short term memory/power/whatever.  You’d think that this amazing iMac wouldn’t have that problem, but I guess any computer that you didn’t buy yesterday is outdated.  And this one is about 4 years old.  It has only 1GB of memory.  Yeah I know, CELL PHONES have more than that these days!  But Steve is going to see about updating it soon, so I’ll not worry right now.  I just won’t try to blog and listen to music at the same time.

Anyway, meant to upload lots of these in my last blog post, but since the computer was so slow I lost patience.  But since it's back to normal speed, here's some more Saugen life!

When did he turn into such a cheese-ball?  He loves helping "stir" whatever I'm making for dinner.  Which usually involved accidentally flinging bits of whatever out of the bowl and all over my floor... but whatever :)  He's helping out!

We went on a walk with Ariyl and all her bridesmaids together.  Lucky man to be surrounded by so many cute girls!

Here I am with the bride to be at her wedding shower last weekend!

Look mommy, my feet finally touch the ground on this thing!

Sue, these onion cry-prevention glasses are AMAZING.  These onions previously made me cry like crazy, but I shed not a single tear this time!  Thank you :)

14 weeks and doing good.  Not a real "bump" yet (thank goodness) but enough that all pants are now worn with rubber bands holding them closed instead of the buttons.

here's to a 3 day weekend!

Saturday morning.... ahhhh.  LOVE IT.  I actually have time to blog today - so nice!  (although it's hard to keep a tech savvy toddler out of my lap...)  I have had time to blog on other days too -- but admit that I had other things that sounded like more fun at the time.  Like SLEEP.

Most of you know this already, but I have been sleeping a ton lately due to a little thing called pregnancy!  Yup, I am officially into the second trimester this week.  And aside from a nasty sinus infection, I am feeling SO MUCH MORE energetic than the last 3 months.  Enough energy at least to not fall asleep on my lunch break every single day at work :)  That was hard to explain before I told my bosses what was up!  But anyway, due date is August 16th (ish).  Yay!  If I ever remember to take one, I'll post a little belly pic for y'all to see.

Well here's a few photos from the last few months.  Just a little snippet of our lives.  Enjoy!

 Sledding day!

Testing out my new Christmas gift from Steven -- a Walther P22.  So far I am having fun learning to shoot it!  (I'm a pretty good shot actually)

Oly's FAVORITE pastime in the whole entire world -- riding with Daddy while he plows the driveway.
