a genuine prayer

There are so many things going on in my life sometimes I forget to thank God for the plain and simple things.  Children seem to see the world a simpler way without any filters or judgements.  I love that about their hearts.

Last week Olaf said his first prayer before dinner.  He has never volunteered to do this before, and I have never pressured him to, so I was thankful to see he was ready to pray out loud and share his heart.

Olaf's words:

Dear God, thank you for the food, and, and, and thank you for love, and, and, thank you for mommy's and daddy's. Amen.

My prayer today:
Dear God, I thank you for those same things, and for the big hearts in tiny bodies that I get to help shape and form daily.  What a responsibility...  Please give me the wisdom I need to do that!
Amen.

Forest Tucker 2.0

Happy birthday to my sweet little two year old boy.

He is snuggly and cuddly, small and squirmy, energetic and crazy, and full of love for all his favorite people, including our little family, his extended family, and his extra family during the week at Julie's house.

it was the best of times, it was the best of times

Seriously.  It was the best of times.  What a nice weekend; what a nice day Sunday was!

Steve was home for mama's day this year.  I loved it.  I slept in.  I woke up to this:
Yum.  PW's french cinnamon muffin things, coffee, banana.  All so happy to see me.

Then we went to Plain Community Church where our friend Zachary preached an AMAZING sermon on Ephesians 2.  Both convicting, and encouraging too!  Those are the best kind.

Then took my mama out to brunch/lunch here:
DELICIOUS.

Bumpa and the boys feeding the fishies at Mountain Springs.

Then a lazy afternoon with some gardening.
And later a softball practice in the hot May sunshine.  (But not too hot.  80 is PERFECT).

Getting ready to plant in my raised bed.

Then some specialty garlic-chive pasta from Pike Place Market and a cold PBR with my hubby.  We might have even danced in the kitchen with eachother :)  I remember my folks doing that when I was a little girl and it's such a fun memory.  Cheesy, but fun.

A day and a weekend spent with family was a recharge to my mama batteries.  Thanks Steven for making it such a nice day!

I love these goofballs

I really really do.  Steve was home for 3 days (yay!) and we spent a lot of time just snuggling, intermixed with bouts of tackling Daddy :)  Mostly I watched.  I love watching my little people interact with eachother!  I can tell already that Forest adores Olaf and wants to do everything he does.  Got a red car, Olaf?  Well Forest wants a red car.  Running around in circles, Olaf?  Well Foresty is crawling right behind you.  (at about 1/10th the speed...)  Blowing bubbles, sticking your tongue out, petting the dogs?  Yes please!  They are hilarious.

Thanking God for my many blessings today.
